How to run a BTC grid bot on Bybit (spot, step by step).

Bybit is one of the easiest exchanges for running a BTC grid bot on spot. This guide shows the full setup with Daily Trade, from an empty account to your first completed trade, and what to expect after.

What you need: a Bybit account, some USDT in it (we suggest starting with $300 or more), and about 10 minutes. You can also skip Bybit at first and start in paper mode with $1,000 of virtual money.

Step 1: Prepare your Bybit account

  1. Create a Bybit account and complete the identity verification Bybit asks for.
  2. Deposit or buy USDT.
  3. Make sure the USDT is in your Unified Trading account (Assets → Unified Trading). If it's in Funding, use Bybit's "Transfer" button to move it.

Step 2: Create a safe API key

The API key lets the bot place orders for you. It never needs permission to withdraw your money.

  1. On Bybit: profile → API → Create New Key → System-generated API Keys.
  2. Choose API Transaction and set permissions to Read-Write.
  3. Turn on Spot → Trade only.
  4. Leave Withdraw OFF. Always.
  5. Optional: turn on Account Transfer if you want the Profit wallet (each trade's profit is moved to your Bybit Funding account). Leave Subaccount Transfer off.
  6. Restrict the key to the IP address shown in your Daily Trade settings, so the key only works from our trading server.

Step 3: Connect it to Daily Trade

  1. Sign up free on Daily Trade.
  2. Open Settings → Exchange, choose Bybit and paste your API key and secret. Keys are stored encrypted.
  3. Click Test my key. It checks the connection and permissions before anything trades.

Step 4: Choose your amount and style

The bot places its first buy orders a little below the current price. When one fills, it places a sell 0.5% higher. When that sells, you've completed a round trip.

Step 5: Watch it work

What to expect

Our own $300 bot on Bybit had 37 completed trades and 0 losing trades by mid-October 2026, about $0.19 profit per trade at that size. Busy weeks with BTC moving up and down bring more trades; quiet weeks bring fewer.

When BTC falls a lot, the bot holds the BTC it bought and waits. Its sell orders sit above the price until BTC comes back. That's normal: it never sells its own BTC below the buy price unless you turn on the stop loss.

Bybit's built-in grid bot vs Daily Trade

Bybit also has its own grid bot inside the app, and it's a good tool. Daily Trade runs a spot grid on your Bybit account through the API and adds:

⚠ Risk: crypto prices can fall a lot and stay down for a long time. Spot only means no liquidation, but your BTC can still be worth less than you paid for a while. Education only, not financial advice.
